The facility, the first indigenous onshore crude export terminal in Nigeria in over 50 years, completed its inaugural export on June 8, 2025.
Shell loaded the first crude cargo from the terminal at 14:00 hours via an off-taker vessel, marking the start of operations for the $400 million facility developed by GEIL, a marginal field operator. The terminal has an initial storage capacity of 750,000 barrels, with the potential to expand to 3 million barrels, and a pumping capacity of 360,000 barrels per day for loading export tankers.
Constructed in under two years, the project was completed ahead of schedule with an initial investment exceeding $400 million. The full-phase development is projected to cost $1.3 billion.
ENR Advisory advised Green Energy International Limited in connection with the project.
