Access Bank Appoints Ex-AfDB Risk Chief Ifedayo Orimoloye as Executive Director


Access Holdings Plc has appointed Ifedayo Olaniyi Orimoloye as Executive Director, Risk Management of Access Bank Plc, its flagship banking subsidiary, following approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria. The appointment takes effect on September 21, 2026.

Orimoloye joins Access Bank after more than 25 years in risk management and financial services across Africa, Europe and the United States. His experience covers enterprise risk management, capital optimisation, credit governance, regulatory compliance and risk transformation.

He most recently served as Group Chief Risk Officer of the African Development Bank, a position he held from May 2021 to September 2026. At AfDB, he was responsible for risk oversight of a portfolio exceeding US$40 billion and was involved in maintaining the institution’s AAA ratings from Moody’s Investors Service, S&P Global Ratings and Fitch Ratings.

His tenure at AfDB also included involvement in capital and securitisation transactions, including initiatives aimed at expanding renewable energy access across Africa.

Before joining AfDB, Orimoloye was Chief Risk Officer at Sterling Bank Plc between 2017 and 2021 and previously served as Senior Vice President and Group Chief Risk Officer at Ecobank Transnational Incorporated for more than seven years.

His earlier career includes senior roles at Wells Fargo Bank and HSBC, where he worked across capital markets, risk management and portfolio governance.

Orimoloye holds bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Finance and an MBA in Finance from California State University, Hayward.

Commenting on the appointment, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, CFR, Group Chairman of Access Holdings, said Orimoloye’s international risk management experience would strengthen Access Bank’s risk governance as the institution continues its growth and value-creation strategy.

The appointment forms part of Access Bank’s broader governance and risk-management framework and was made in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
